58% Original Reports Overlooked CCI

Unveiling Critical Insights:  A Comparison of Original Radiology Opinion Reports to 2nd Radiology Opinion Reports

Our dedicated team of Consultant Radiologists, specializing in the intricate field of CCI and its common comorbidities, strives to offer comprehensive reports, particularly when original, minimum standard reports fall short.

We understand the challenges faced by patients seeking answers in the realm of craniocervical junction disorders. Often, these disorders go unnoticed because treating physicians and radiologists may not initially suspect their presence, leading to insufficient investigation.

In 2022,  a PhD. Bioinformatics (a person with an advanced research degree who conducts data analysis in “data science”) was contracted to study the differences between patient’s first opinion reports and Spine and Brain Consultant Radiologist’s second opinion reports, and the results were jaw-dropping:

58% of the original radiology reports missed CCI findings.

Data Collection and Analysis Process:  To compile the data for this analysis, Spine and Brain Advocate with prior written consent, meticulously gathered Original Radiology Report and 2nd Opinion Radiology Report data from 2021 to December 31, 2022. This data was organized an Excel spreadsheet, with an initial “data cleanse” involving the replacement of patient names with initials (e.g. Mary Cox = MC) and the removal of personal information such as addresses.  The data analysis and report compilation were entrusted to accomplished individuals with validated credentials in PhD. Bioinformatics.
